Cheated By Fortnums

December 3rd, 2008

I went to Fortnums Staines back in Feb 2008 and purchased a second hand Audi A3. The sales person (Warren) cleverly got us to pay the highest end for the value of that car at that time. He managed to make us take Bronze warranty cover provided by Fortnums which is supposed to let us bring the car for servicing to Fortnums free for 2 years. The deal was such that RAC breakdown was free for one year. The main reason I wanted to buy the car from Fortnums, was because they were offering interest free loan. However they did not provide me with this & charged interest for a period of 40 months. When I bought the car the airbag sign was on & raised a bit of concern to me, but the salesman said that, if the light is still on till I reach back home, bring the car back the following day. I took the car back waited half day to fix it. By next day, the airbag sign was on again, so I had to ring them up & had to book another appointment. Due to work, I couldnt take the car back till May. Again, after Fortnums keeping the car for a week in the name of servicing, the car came back with the airbag light still on. By then, I was becoming very disappointed with them. When I rang them, the mechanic, Lee promised that he will fix it when the next service is due convincing its a minor issue. The RAC breakdown cover never came through too. Due to this I had to get my own breakdown cover.

I booked for an appointment as the car was due for service recently. Lee, who is supposed to fix the problems, has left Fortnums. The staffs were extremely rude, and refused to service my car. I called up their After Sales Manager, Steve Buckle, and told him the issue. Shockingly, he responded me the same way.  I was left with no choice but to fix the car on my own.

I AM ONE OF THOSE VICTIMS WHO HAVE FALLEN FOR AN ATTRACTIVE ADVERTISMENT WITH GREAT INCENTIVES. FORTNUMS CARS ARE REAL CUT THROAT!!!!!!
