On Saturday 26th Jan, I went into Fortnums Cars, Staines to look at cars. I picked a Golf out that I was interested in and was told that I needed to agree a price before test driving the car. I need this, making clear, however that I did not wish to commit to anything at this stage. Before test driving the car I was only required to pay a 200 refundable deposit against the insurance excess on the car. After the test drive, I said that I would need more time to think about it and requested my deposit back. The dealer refused and insisted that the deposit was paid against the car and non-refundable. I am now left feeling misinformed and cheated by this rogue trader who is showing no intention of returning my 200.
