Do they not have a policy of fair trading
To follow up,
I’m still having huge problems getting through to people. The After Sales Manager has told me that my case has been passed on to the Chief Exec and that I will receive a letter from him very soon. This was nearly two weeks ago. I have made several calls to Fortnums but the receptionist is very loyal and just says “I will get him to call you”. Naturally, this never happens. (If you’re reading this receptionist, thanks for trying!)
I can’t see that Fortnums have any policy about keeping customers happy at all. I suggest that anyone thinking about dealing with them should think again. It’s all fine until they have your money, then they don’t want to know!
I bought a used car from Fortnums a month ago. Here is a list of issues I have with them:
I specified some of my requirements before buying. They lied on two counts saying that the car met my requirements.
During the test drive, not a single fault was mentioned by the salesman. I found a couple.
Having had the car for a month now, there is a growing list of problems most of which I would expect Fortnums to have known about.
I have spent an awful long time on the phone trying to sort these things out. I have lost count of the number of times I have been told to expect a call back. It has never happened. I have had one call only from the salesman who sold me the car, as he was paranoid about what I had been saying about him.
Fortnums are refusing to replace the car as it would be “in breach of their policy”. Do they not have a policy of fair trading then?
Fortnums have not appologised for my dissatisfaction. In fact they do a very good job of shrugging me off their shoulders!
This was my first experience of a car dealership. I have heard horror stories before, but Fortnums came accross friendly and open. I was very, very wrong about them! Unfortunately (for any honest car dealers out there) they have, in my mind, tarnished the industry. From now on I will buy privately. I recommend steering well clear of Fortnums!
