Dont know if you got my last message? Update of how we have managed
to claim back over £3000 . If any of you out there did take the
finance though Fortnums then you are in luck. Fortnums as far as i
know only used Barclays and Santander for finance. What you have to do
is write to Barclays main branch telling them what happened to you,
They are in breach of contract under the consumer act 1974 claim under
CCA74 SECTION 75.This means they are liable for half the cost of the
warrenty, any works that have been done to your car which you have had
to pay for, which the warreny would of covered.

I got my car from Fortnums Fareham in 2008. My parents dealt with it
because I had just passed my test and they were looking for a car for
me. They found me a Vauxhall Corsa, 2003 plate, which seemed to be
perfect for me. However it took 3 weeks before I could even drive the
car away because there were a few problems they had to fix, one being
that the stereo didn’t work and they had to install a new one which
took them over a week! Finally, I got my car and was happy with it. It
passed it’s first MOT (just) but failed the next 2. I also had
problems with the handbrake not working properly a few times, and
although I took it back for them to fix, it still went back to being
“unfixed” very soon so I had to pay to get it done properly at a
garage.
Each time I called to book in for a service with Fortnums (got their 4
years free servicing vouchers) I found the staff very rude on the
phone. I have had 2 free services with them, but each time have a gut
feeling that they haven’t actually done anything but put a stamp in my
book. They haven’t changed the oil or told me anything about my car. I
have asked for a new dipstick each time because the handle of mine is
broken, but they have still never replaced it for me. I tried calling
today to book my next free service but their number doesn’t work and
their website is under construction. Then I found this website and
realised that they have gone bankrupt. I am unhappy because I now have
to pay for my servicing, I know this is nothing compared to those
people who have got finace through Fortnums, but I thought I would
post my opinion on here as well

Insurance is not valid

I bought a BMW car from them last year and was shocked to hear when i
called driving plus insurance (law gistics) people saying to me my
insurance is not valid as fortnums has gone into liquidation, without
forwarding any funds of my high premium, i have several faults with my
vehicle and i have had to go to the bmw main dealers to sought it out,
i have to pay bmw around £1,400, i just don’t know who to contact
regarding this serious matter can anyone out there help me.

I BOUGHT A CAR FROM THESE PEOPLE IN FAREHAM AND PAID AN EXTRA £1,000
FOR EXTENDED SERVICING AND WARRANTY.I AM STILL OWED THREE OF EACH. DOES
ANYONE KNOW WHY AND WHEN THEY WENT IN TO LIQUIDATION?
I HAVE CONFIRMED WITH THE WARRANTY ADMINISTRATION FIRM THAT IT IS NOT
WORTH THE PAPER IT IS WRITTEN ON.

MOT and car tax due soon, googled fortnums to get phone number wanting
to arrange service and this website was the top search result.

Any information would be most appreciated and count me in if support

We have just found out that Fortnums has gone. The car that we brought in 2009 has just had the Turbo gone on it. We are in the same boat as every one else, our warranty is not worth the paper. Does anyone know exactly when they went bust? and if the Fortnums in southampton are a sister company? I am going to pursue this. I got all my paper works and have been doing my homework, we all need to stick together on this if we want any chance of getting our money back.
Every one needs to print out a copy of the consumer credit act 1974 section 75. I am getting all the evidence together, if you brought your car through finance, you need all your bank details because it looks like they are just as responsable as we are. Once i have all my details then i will be off to the soliciter, I think we all have a good case here, when i find out were i stand I will repost to tell you how to go about getting your money back.

How can I get out of this deal? Did anyone try to speak with Blackhorse? I think they should be partly responsible for it. At the end of the day Fortnums was representing this finance company. Or maybe there is some sort of department where we all could get help. (£11000-asking price for my car, still 4 free services… ) What do I do now?

These boys are complete rip off artists and I’m not surprised they’ve
disappeared now. My partner ended up being ‘persuaded’ into getting a
motor way over her initial limit, she was completely bullied into it
that’s what these tossers do.
The car had a major bearing fault on the drive home from Fareham and
when checked by a local peugeot garage she was told it was lethal and
should never have left the dealers. We got them to pay for the repair
after going to trading standards but have since had numerous problems
with the car and a missing log book which we have been vigorously
chasing them for since the day the car was bought to no avail
especially as they have now blatantly f**ked off. Left with a
valueless heap. any advice appreciated.
